Emmett Cooper loves cutting hair today as much as he did 30 years ago when, as a teenager, he started cutting his own hair as well as that of his friends and their mothers. For Cooper, hairdressing is like sculpting. “It’s all about form and balance,” he says. To help him work more effectively and achieve better results, Cooper spent three years working in his Indianapolis, Indiana-based salon, Emmett’s Beaute Centre, to create his own name sake line of products, emmett cooper haircare. Take it from him: It wasn’t easy. For one thing, Cooper wanted to work with the best and purest ingredients available, including essential oils, plant extracts, vitamins, and minerals. In some instances, that meant sourcing ingredients from Japan. The results were worth the effort. “They’re as natural and pure as I can make them, and they do what they say they’ll do,” says Cooper, who wanted hair to look healthy, not weighed down with product residue.
